What is EXIF Data?

  • Date and time the photo was taken
  • GPS coordinates (if location was enabled)
  • Exposure time, aperture, ISO
  • Focal length and lens information
  • Flash usage and orientation

EXIF Viewer FAQ

Which image formats contain EXIF data?

EXIF data is most commonly found in JPEG and TIFF files. HEIC files (used by iPhones) also contain EXIF. PNG files typically don't contain EXIF metadata.

Why is there no GPS data in my photo?

GPS coordinates are only included if location services were enabled on your camera or phone when the photo was taken. Many users disable this for privacy.

Can I remove EXIF data from photos?

Our viewer is read-only - it displays EXIF but doesn't modify files. To remove EXIF for privacy, you can use image editing software or specialized EXIF removal tools.

Why do some photos have no EXIF data?

EXIF data may be stripped when sharing photos on social media, messaging apps, or when screenshots are taken. Original photos from cameras usually have full EXIF data.

Is my photo safe?

Absolutely! Your photo is processed entirely in your browser using JavaScript. It never leaves your device and is never sent to any server. We can't see your photos.
